Coexistence of sparrows: a test of community theory.
نویسنده
چکیده
A study of the coexistence of sparrows in grassland and woodland habitats of the Research Ranch in southeastern Arizona supports the predictability of current community theory. For each of the habitats studied, the production of seeds and the abundance of seed-eating, winter-resident sparrows were measured. The theory correctly predicts the number of species supported in each of the habitats. In both cases for which the prediction is that only one species could be supported, the theory correctly predicts which species should be present.

A Survey of Neospora caninum infection in sparrows (Passer domesticus) in Khuzestan Province, Iran
The present study reports the presence of N. caninum DNA by PCR in brain tissues of house sparrows. The results showed that 6 (2.8%) of brain samples were positive for N. caninum. This is the first report for detection of N. caninum in sparrows, in Khuzestan Province. The results suggest that the meat of infected sparrows can be the source for dogs' infection.
متن کاملThe witness set of coexistence of quantum effects and its preservers
One of unsolved problems in quantum measurement theory is to characterize coexistence of quantum effects. In this paper, applying positive operator matrix theory, we give a mathematical characterization of the witness set of coexistence of quantum effects and obtain a series of properties of coexistence. We also devote to characterizing bijective morphisms on quantum effects leaving the witness...
متن کاملDetection and Isolation of H9N2 Subtype of Avian Influenza Virus in House Sparrows (Passer domesticus) of Ahvaz, Iran
Avian influenza (AI) is an acute infectious disease with worldwide significance causing extensive economic losses in the poultry industry. Avian influenza viruses (AIVs) belong to the family Orthomyxoviridae and categorized in the genus influenza virus A. These viruses have been isolated from more than 100 species of free-living birds. Migratory birds are considered as reservoirs for AIVs and a...
متن کاملEffects of urbanization on host-pathogen interactions, using Yersinia in house sparrows as a model
Urbanization strongly affects biodiversity, altering natural communities and often leading to a reduced species richness. Yet, despite its increasingly recognized importance, how urbanization impacts on the health of individual animals, wildlife populations and on disease ecology remains poorly understood. To test whether, and how, urbanization-driven ecosystem alterations influence pathogen dy...

Since Science is a social phenomenon, active groups of actors in a scientific field are called scientific community. The relationship between scientific capital and scientific community constructs the subject matter of current paper which is addressed through Pierre Bourdieu’s field theory and his theory of Habitus. Scientific community of sociology in various universities of Tehran were select...
